This is my second box of crystal candy from Misaky Tokyo. While I prefer the Love Bomb box personally, overall, I enjoyed this box and am excited to try other ones as well! The texture of these candies can't be beat - even for the few I'm not crazy about flavor-wise, I'll usually eat them anyway because they're so satisfying to crunch.
Here are my reviews of each treat:
Spinel (strawberry+cherry): Much sweeter and less tangy than I expected - and I do so love a nice tangy candy. I'd expected some tartness from a cherry-flavored candy. Nevertheless, once I got over my initial disappointment, it was still pleasant to eat.
Fire Opal (peach+basil): If every other candy in this box had been garbage, I'd probably still give it a 4 because Fire Opal is SO. INSANELY. GOOD. Perfect balance of sweet-yet-tart and so lovely to crunch. I wish they had this one in more of their boxes, because YUM.
Amber (yuzu peel+yuzu): My understanding is that this is one of the more popular flavors, and for good reason - it's delicious. Great citrus taste, light and sweet with just enough tang to keep the sweetness from overwhelming the flavor.
Jade (matcha): I really expected to hate this one. I'm a fruit girl. But to my surprise, it was one of my favorites in the box. If you like matcha sweets and/or lattes, you've gotta try this one.
Apatite (lychee+lemongrass): This one was a little sweet for my taste, but then again, lychee itself IS a very sweet fruit, so that wasn't surprising. I have to say it's the prettiest in the box, in my opinion - it was almost a shame to eat it.
Purple Chalcedony (plum+desert pear) Uh...okay, so...I really didn't like this one. Which surprised me, because this was the flavor I was most excited about trying. I just didn't really get much fruit taste from it. It was kinda strange. I did finish it but I'll admit it took me a few days to get through this one small treat.
