"Misaky is a reflection of my dream for a more beautiful future"

- Alissa Miky

When Alissa was 9-years old, she had to board a flight 3 days after 9/11 to fly back to Japan. She was terrified to get on the plane. Before she boarded her flight, a Red Cross worker appeared in front of her and gave her a piece of candy. The candy gave her a feeling of comfort and safety that left a lasting impression.

Years later, Alissa was a successful marketer in Japan. Despite receiving several awards, she felt empty inside. One day, she heard from her friend that there were not a lot of sweets available for her because she is vegan and gluten-free. This made Alissa think ... most Japanese desserts are vegan and gluten-free; this was her chance to replicate the feeling of comfort and safety she experienced at the airport. Alissa decided then and there to start a brand called Misaky, which is a combination of the Japanese words for beautiful and future. Through sweets, Alissa wants to bring feelings of joy, comfort and inclusivity to the world.
